South Africa – Umkhonto Wesizwe (MK) party president, Jacob Zuma has announced that former secretary general, Floyd Shivambu has been deployed to parliament after his trip to Malawi to visit fugitive Bishop Shepherd Bushiri was condemned.
Zuma said Shivambu’s trip to Malawi at the invitation of Bushiri was criticized form within the party and was against the constitution of the MK party.
”The national officials have come to a decision to redeploy commander Floyd Shivambu as the secretary general of the MK party and redeploy him to the National Assembly,” Zuma said in a statement.
”The national officials have had discussions with commander Floyd Shivambu pertaining to his deployment, and he has duly accepted.”
Zuma said “it was reaffirmed that the trip was not an officially sanctioned programme”.
”It is common knowledge that Bishop Shepherd Bushiri and his wife Mary Bushiri skipped bail, and are to return to South Africa to stand trial on various charges,” Zuma added.
Shivambu on social media platform X said he was agreeable to the new deployment without giving any other information.
”Am truly and genuinely grateful for the tasks given and the redeployment. We will serve with excellence and discipline #GwazaMkhontoGwaza,” Shivambu said on X.
