Harare – The United States embassy in Zimbabwe has warned visa applicants to be truthful of their criminal record as lying can lead to your visa application rejected.
In a post on Facebook, the US embassy said criminal convictions or minor offenses can lead to one being denied a visa.
“Criminal convictions can permanently bar you from entering the U.S. Even minor offenses can trigger visa denials,” the embassy said.
“Consular officers have access to your criminal background and will discover past violations or arrests. Tell the truth on your application and in your interview – lying can get you banned.”
The US embassy has seen an increased number of visa applicants from Zimbabweans as people seek better opportunities in education and work abroad.
