Harare – Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa on Wednesday had a meeting with visiting Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Karankevich in Harare as the two countries seek to strengthen ties.
Mnangagwa has maintained close relations with Belarus President Alexandr Lukashenko who has visited the country before.
The meetings in Zimbabwe are mid-term between Harare and Minsk joint permanent commission commission on cooperation.
“Today I received Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Karankevich of Belarus for a courtesy call at State House. We reaffirmed our shared commitment to deepening cooperation between Zimbabwe and Belarus,” Mnangagwa said.
The Belarus delegation which arrived earlier in the week held meetings on Tuesday with senior government officials.
Part of the Belarusian delegation Maxim Ryzhrnkov, the Foreign Affairs Minister of Belarus and Yury Nikolaichik, the Director Africa and Middle East for Belarus government.
Belarus pledged to establish a tractor and bus plant in Zimbabwe.
