Harare – Former State Security minister and ex-ZANU PF secretary general, Didymus has been appointed into the ZANU PF Elders council.
The appointment was made by ZANU PF First Secretary and President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
The announcement was made by Christopher Mutsvangwa, the spokesman of ZANU PF.
Mutasa was fired from ZANU PF over a decade ago for belonging to faction that supported the ascendancy of then vice president Joice Mujuru to become president of Zimbabwe replacing Mugabe.
Mutasa who now old has been living a low profile life since his ouster from government and ZANU PF.
Commonly addressed as ‘Nyati’ his totem, Mutasa was feared during his tenure as State Security minister.
He was accused of perpetrating violence against the opposition in the Makoni area in Manicaland.
The Elders Council in ZANU PF is chaired by Sydney Sekeramayi, a former Defence Minister in government.
