Harare – The Zimbabwe High Court has ruled that controversial businessman, Wicknell Chivhayo must pay US$5 million in divorce settlement to his ex-wife Sonja Louise Madzikanda.
Justice Emmy Tsanga made the ruling this week.
Madzikanda is yet to comment on the ruling.
The legal battle pitting Chivayo and Madzikanda had caught the attention of the public when Madzikanda went on social media about the divorce case.
The two sired two children, a son and a daughter.
According to state media, Chivayo has paid US$2.2 million to Madzikanda and will pay another US$2.8 million within the next 30 days.
Chivayo a controversial figure and businessman is a close associate of Zimbabwe President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
Chivayo has also close relations with Kenya President William Ruto, Tanzania President Samia Suluhu Hassan and Malawi President Peter Mutharika.
