Harare – Kelsea Tafirenyika, the daughter-in-law of President Emmerson Mnangagwa has been denied bail in a charge she is facing of dealing in dangerous drugs.
Tafirenyika was denied bail together with her uncle Isaac Jessub who is jointly charged with her for being found with cannabis, morphine and pethidine.
Tafirenyika is Collins Mnangagwa’s second wife.
Harare Regional magistrate, Marehwanazvo Gofa denied Tafirenyika and Jessub saying the two were facing serious charges and were a danger to society.
Tafirenyika was arrested at her home in Greystone Park where the drugs were found inside her Lamborghini while Jessub had drugs in his Mercedes Benz.
The drug bust has embarrassed the First Family.
Collins Mnangagwa, an engineer was reported in the media to have undergone drug rehabilitation in Belarus.
The drug and substance abuse problem has been declared a national crisis in Zimbabwe with thousands of ordinary people hooked to cannabis, cocaine and other drugs.
First Lady, Auxillia Mnangagwa has been on a drive to help drug addicts into rehab by setting up a facility in Mbare.
