Gwanda – Kelvin Sebata (39) of Chief Marupi, in Selonga, Gwanda has been sentenced to 9 years by the Gwanda Magistrates’ court in prison for stock theft.
On the 14th of April, 2025, the offender, along with Darlington Siziba (already on remand) and two unidentified accomplices, unlawfully stole and slaughtered a brown cow belonging to a 73 year-old in Mabuze village, Filabusi.
Police officers received a tip-off at around 0039 hours that a crime of stock theft was in progress at Cleveland farm and reacted immediately. They found the suspects in the act of slaughtering the stolen cow.
The offender and his accomplices were identified by the police at the scene, but managed to flee. The carcass, valued at US$ 800 was recovered intact. Darlington Siziba was arrested at Mopane Business Centre, Gwanda while the offender was arrested on the 7th of May 2025 in Spitzkop, Gwanda, following a second tip-off.
