Moscow – Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa held a meeting with Russia’s President Vladimir Putin with the two leaders discussing ways to strengthen cooperation in defence, mining, energy and agriculture.
”I met with President Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin. We reaffirmed Zimbabwe–Russia ties and our shared vision for a just, multipolar world,” Mnangagwa said.
”We discussed deeper cooperation in mining, energy, agriculture, and defence.”
Mnangagwa’s delegation in the meeting included Foreign Affairs Minister, Amon Murwira, Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube, and Fulton Mangwanya, the Director General of the Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO).
Mnangagwa is in Russia where he attended the 80th anniversary of the Victory Day that signifies the end of World War II.
Mnangagwa also met Zimbabwe students studying in Russia. There are hundreds of Zimbabwe students studying in Russia.
Russia and Zimbabwe have maintained strong ties over the last four decades.
Moscow has used it’s veto in the security council to side with Zimbabwe.
