Harare – President Emmerson Mnangagwa on Monday launched a ZANU PF women’s league US$3.5 million empowerment with each province getting US$350 000.
The money will channeled towards projects in all the country’s 10 provinces.
Each ZANU PF women’s league province was handed US$300 000 and Young Women for ED were handed US$50 000 per province.
”This groundbreaking initiative stands as a beacon of hope,that will accelerate the realization of high-impact programmes and projects. The Presidential Women’s
Empowerment Fund is designed to be a powerful engine for economic growth, social inclusion and transformation
to ensure development that leaves no one and no place behind,” Mnangagwa said at the gathering at the Harare International Conference Centre (HICC).
”When women have economic power and sustainable sources of livelihoods, we are guaranteed that families are sustained, while communities are developed, step by step, brick by brick, and stone upon stone.”
The theme of the event was — ‘the power of empowered women, transforming lives transforming societies towards vision 2030.’
”Most women by nature are builders and agents of transformation. Under the guidance and leadership of the
Women’s League, the women of our country will be enabled and motivated to work towards a brighter and more
prosperous future for generations to come,” Mnangagwa said.
”This programme is for the benefit of all the women of our country and I urge the Women’s League to take an all-inclusive approach in the identification and selection of beneficiaries of the Empowerment Fund.”
The event was attend by vice presidents Constantino Chiwenga, and Kembo Mohadi together with senior ZANU PF officials.
Others who attended include special presidential advisor, Dr Paul Tungwarira who funded transport and food for over 5500 delegates.
All ZANU PF women’s league chairperson were handed brand new vehicles each.
All the delegates were handed food hampers,shovels,ploughs, picks, scotch-carts, tractors and 10 kg maize seed.
