The ZRP confirms the arrest of Gordon Nkowu (58), Nkosiyabo Moyo (57), Shepherd Nkomo (43), Beven Sibanda (40), and Isaiah Moyo (31).
The five suspects were intercepted along Bulawayo–Solusi Road in Bulawayo while driving a Toyota Hilux Single Cab, registration number DN08VG-GP, towing a trailer with registration number KW27Y2-GP, which was laden with 360 kg of loose dagga valued at ZIG 10,800,000.00.
The dagga was smuggled from South Africa via Botswana into Zimbabwe.
Meanwhile, the ZRP confirms the arrest of Mary Jena (26) and Justice Kanopula (30) in connection with the unlawful manufacture and distribution of unregistered cough syrups in Harare.
On 30/05/2026, detectives from CID Drugs and Narcotics, Harare, acted on received information and recovered substances and equipment used in the illicit manufacture of cough syrups at a house in Tynwald, Harare.
The suspects allegedly manufactured the cough syrups using ingredients sourced locally and imported cough syrups smuggled from neighbouring countries before distributing the products to drug dealers.
