Harare – Zimbabwe prominent politician Blessed Geza, and staunch critic of President Emmerson Mnangagwa rule has died, his family said on Friday.
Geza left the country and lived in self- imposed exile after he had called for Mnangagwa to step down.
Geza wanted Mnangagwa to step down and be replaced by Vice President Constantino Chiwenga.
Before his demise, Geza on Thursday wrote a long message to Zimbabweans urging them to continue fighting for their rights.
”Even as I prepare to leave this world, I do so with the conviction that our struggle continues,” Geza wrote on X.
Geza whose nom de guerre was ‘Bombshell’ is a former member of the powerful ZANU PF Central Committee came out open criticizing Mnangagwa before he fled to exile fearing for his safety.
Factions within ZANU PF are fighting over leadership.
Mnangagwa wants to extend his term to 2030 while Chiwenga wants to take over in 2028 as a ZANU PF election candidate.
The constitution does not allow Mnangagwa to rule beyond 2028 as he has served two five year terms limits.
