Rabat, Morocco – Senegal won the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 beating host Morocco 1-0 in extra time.
Pape Gueye scored the winning goal in the 94th minute, after Morocco’s Brahim Diaz missed a penalty in stoppage time, which led to chaotic scenes and a 14-minute delay as Senegal players walked off the pitch in protest.
The match was marked by controversy, with Senegal’s players initially refusing to continue playing after the penalty was awarded.
However, Sadio Mane persuaded them to return, and they went on to secure the win. This is Senegal’s second AFCON title in three tournaments.
