Harare – Controversial businessman Wicknell Chivayo on Monday donated 10 Land Cruisers to ZANU PF provincial chairpersons ahead of the party conference in Mutare.
Chivayo also gave the provincial chairpersons US$100 000 each for projects of their choice in their respective provinces.
”I extend a big CONGRATULATIONS to ALL TEN Provincial Chairpersons , FARAI from Faramatsi Motors located at Club Chambers showroom, Cnr 3rd Street and Nelson Mandela, has supplied your BRAND NEW 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser 300 series VXR , valued at US$190,000 each, FULLY PAID for and now ready for collection,” Chivhayo said.
”In addition to this PERSONAL vehicle , each Chairperson will receive a small token of US$100,000 in cash for them to support small DEVELOPMENT and EMPOWERMENT initiatives in their respective Provinces.”
In an another donation Chivayo donated 10 ambulances to provincial hospitals across the country.
”I am also very pleased to donate 10 brand-new top of the range , state of the art TOYOTA LANDCRUISER (ICU) AMBULANCE valued at USD 90 000 which i kindly and respectfully request should be handed over to the government GENERAL HOSPITAL in each Provincial Capital in honour of President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa’s 82nd birthday,” he wrote on X.
Chivayo has been making waves in the past year donating cars and cash like confetti at a wedding. His source of income is unknown but critics accuse him of corruption.
The ex-convict is a close ally of President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
Chivayo travelled in the presidential helicopter together with Mnangagwa to Zvishavane where the veteran leader was celebrating his birthday.
Chivayo allegedly got hundreds of millions of dollars from a corrupt Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) tender through a company in South Africa that fronted the deal.
