Harare – High Court judge, Justice Gibson Mandaza on Friday denied bail to Alpha Media journalist, Blessed Mhlanga who is facing charges of transmitting data to incite violence.
Mhlanga has been in remand prison for 25 days and was initially denied bail by the magistrates court.
Justice Mandaza said there was a valid reason for denying Mhlanga bail.
Mhlanga is accused of uploading a video that featured war veteran, Blessed Geza who has been calling for the ouster of President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
Geza is in hiding after police issued a statement that they wanted to arrest him for undermining Mnangagwa and inciting violence.
A defiant Geza has continued to release videos that criticize Mnangagwa and his regime.
Geza has called for mass protests across the country to demand the resignation of Mnangagwa saying he has run down the country.
Journalists and rights groups have called for the release of Mhlanga saying journalist is not a crime.
The arrest of Mhlanga comes barely a month after Information Minister, Jenfan Muswere has been boasting that the Mnangagwa regime has a cordial working relationship with journalists and has no appetite to arrest journalists.
