Mutare- Constitutional Defenders Forum (CDF) Convener, Tendai Biti and director Morgan Ncube were granted $500 bail each by a Mutare magistrate in a case they were arrested for holding a meeting against constitutional amendments.
Biti, a prominent lawyer and Ncube were arrested over the weekend in Mutare while they were holding meetings that encourage people to rally against constitutional amendments that seek to extend President Emmerson Mnangagwa term from 2028 to 2030.
Biti and Ncube as part of their bail were ordered by the court to surrender their passports and prohibited against holding meetings.
The CDF which was recently formed to oppose constitutional amendments has been calling on Zimbabweans to write to parliament and organize against the proposed charter amendments.
