Harare – Zimbabwean politician Nelson Chamisa’s social media platform X handle has been hacked.
Chamisa told his supporters and followers on his WhatsApp channel that his X account has been hacked.
“To my fellow citizens, I wish to kindly inform you that my X (formerly Twitter) account has been hacked and compromised by cyber-criminals,” Chamisa wrote.
”Our cyber-security team is working diligently with the X support team to resolve the issue, regain control, and implement necessary security measures. We will keep you updated on the progress of the recovery and any further actions.”
Nelson Chamisa is one of the most followed Zimbabweans on X with over 1.3 million followers.
He uses his X handle to post his life stories and bible verses saying to his followers that ‘God is in it’ in most of his posts.
Chamisa is a former leader of the Movement Democratic Change -Alliance (MDC-A) and the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC).
He lost two presidential elections to President Emmerson Mnangagwa in 2018 and 2023.
Chamisa has accused Mnangagwa and the ruling ZANU PF of rigging both polls.
The youthful leader, who is 47 resigned from CCC and does not have a political formation at the moment.
He has been criticized for failing to unseat ZANU PF in past elections with his critics saying he does not have leadership qualities to win elections.
