New York – An Air Canada Express plane collided with a emergency vehicle on landing at La Guardia Airport leaving two pilots dead and several injured.
La Guardia Airport said the AZZ 646(CRJ-900) collided with the emergency vehicle at 11:40 p.m on Sunday.
The firefighting vehicle collided with the plane when the truck was responding to a separate incident at the airport.
The airport is currently closed to facilitate the response and allow for a thorough investigation.
”Emergency response protocols were immediately activated. The Port Authority Police Department is on scene along with the agency’s Chairman and Executive Director,” La Guardia Airport said.
”This is a developing situation based on preliminary information. The Port Authority Police Department is working closely with our airline partners as well as federal authorities and will provide additional updates as more details become available.”
