Dar es Salaam, Tanzania – Tanzanian President Suluhu Samia pictures with controversial Zimbabwe businessman Wicknell Chivayo has been questioned on social media.
Chivayo in pictures posted on his social media accounts shows him sitting with Samia (in main picture) which raised questions from some Tanzanians on social media.
”Who is this guy? 🤨He seems very comfortable in the State House as if he is the boss of Tanzania President Suluhu Samia.Jamani huyu vipi?,” Abdulahi Adani wrote on X.
In his post on social media in the past week Chivhayo did not say why he was in a meeting with Suluhu Samia but describes the Tanzanian president as ‘The Matriarch of Africa.’
Chivayo did not tell his followers of the reasons of his meeting with Samia and how he manages to get such privileged meetings with the president.
“This is a woman whose presence alone CALMS a room and whose leadership stirs an ENTIRE continent. In her, I always see the embodiment of MOTHERLY strength, wisdom and the dignified grace that only a true MATRIARCH of Africa can carry,” Chivayo wrote on social media.
“The future of AFRICA is unmistakably BRIGHTER when WOMEN like Her Excellency hold the levers of power. When women lead, the tone shifts from control to CARE, from ego to EQUITY and from power to PURPOSE. Mama Samia is living proof that Africa’s renaissance will indeed be mothered into existence.”
Chivayo had earlier met with Kenyan President William Ruto.
Chivayo has met with Samia and Ruto previously.
A tenderprenuer, Chivayo has been splashing cash like confetti at a wedding in Zimbabwe.
He has given out cars and cash worth millions of US dollars in the past months.
Independent media reports have said Chivayo got a lucrative shady contract worth US$100 million from Zimbabwe Election Commission (ZEC) to supply ballots in the 2023 controversial elections.
ZEC has denied it.
War veteran Blessed Geza has accused Chivayo as being among the top corrupt people benefiting from corruption in Zimbabwe with President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s approval.
Chivayo has been clinching business deals in Kenya and Tanzania in recent months which have not be made public.
Chivayo has spread his tentacles in east Africa where he can meet with Presidents of Kenya and Tanzania at his will.
