Harare – Businessman and Betterbrands executive had told a Harare magistrate court that City Football Academy founder Agripa Guti must be jailed for duping him US$5 000 over fake Manchester City Football soccer trials for his son.
”Looking at my case I would prefer that the accused person be send to prison,” Chitima said in court.
”These are people that must not be allowed to stay with others in society..
Chitima who has claimed he lost US$2 000 in court papers but in his testimony said he lost US$5 000.
”The money that I claimed is US$2000, to tell the truth it is US$5000 that I lost to him,”he said.
Chitima told the court that he gave Guti US$1000 for his son to attend a tournament in Italy but the they did not travel for the tourney.
Another US$1000 was given to Guti for soccer trials trip to Manchester City Football club when the child was supposed to go to the United Kingdom for trials but ended in Dubai.
He said he gave Guti other amounts on several occasions to facilitate the trials.
Nothing was recovered.
Chitima became emotional in court saying the fraud affected his family including the son who thought he was going to attend football trials at Manchester City Football Club.
”I was affected emotionally, the whole family was affected emotionally, even the child was affected emotionally,” Chitima said.
”It hurts, it’s painful when the child has seen the papers saying he was going (for trials) and later to know the papers were fake.”
Guti also defrauded Justice Nyevhe US$2 500, Didymus Mandinenga US$930 and Egton Tsuronzuma US$3 800 using the same trick.
The trial of Guti continues on June 6.
