”It has been an extraordinary privilege and honour to serve my country in Zimbabwe.
During the four and a half years of my stay in Zimbabwe, I have been treated with kindness, hospitality and openness by Zimbabweans.
As an Embassy we have been engaging with you – our project partners, our followers on social media, all those having an interest in Germany and in our bilateral relations with Zimbabwe.
Through these relations, I have thus learnt a lot about the creativity, the solidarity and the spirituality of the people of Zimbabwe. For example through our work with the women artists of Matobo and their tradition of hut painting.
An intercultural exchange through the musicians that collaborated with visiting German artists or the Zimbabwean artists who travelled to Germany to perform there was also great to experience in the period of my stay here in Zimbabwe.
I thank you all – also on behalf of the Embassy and on behalf of Marianne, my wife – for the moments and the work we have shared. Tinotenda, siyabonga, vielen Dank!!
