Harare – The Harare City Council has fired Matthew Marara, a senior manager after he was found guilty by a disciplinary hearing for unlawfully promoting himself.
Marara was dismissed last week.
He was also found guilty for failing to report on duty.
Marara testified in the commission of inquiry on Harare city affairs that was chaired by Justice Maphios Cheda.
During his testimony Marara said he was getting a US$12 000. He was also compensation $131 000 by council for the months he was on suspension.
Marara had promoted himself to the post of executive secretary to the Town Clerk.

The report exposes massive corruption at the city council at a time when service delivery is lowest in the capital’s history.
Mnangagwa has not made the report public or acted on the report submitted by Cheda.
