Bulawayo – Highlanders Football Club plunged into mourning after the team’s chairman, Kenneth Mhlophe, vice chair Sifiso Siziba and treasurer, Nkani Khoza were killed in a road accident along the Harare – Bulawayo highway after attending a match in Kariba.
The top club officials were coming from watching a match between Highlanders and ZPC Kariba in the resort town on Kariba.
A fourth person, a woman who is yet to be identified died in the tragic accident.
The accident occurred when a vehicle carrying the three Highlanders officials hit a cow on the highway before a head on collision with a bus coming from the opposite direction.
The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has expressed sadness following the tragic accident that killed the three Highlanders officials.
Hundreds of people from Highlanders supporters, football fans and ordinary people have been posting their condolence messages on social media.
