Milan, Italy – Renowned Italian and global fashion designer, Giorgio Armani has died aged 91, the Armani Group said on Thursday.
”With infinite sorrow, the Armani Group announces the passing of its creator, founder, and tireless driving force: Giorgio Armani. Il Signor Armani, as he was always respectfully and admiringly called by employees and collaborators, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones,” the Armani Group said.
”Indefatigable to the end, he worked until his final days, dedicating himself to the company, the collections, and the many ongoing and future projects.”
Armani’s over 50 years legacy is marked by his transformative impact on fashion, with his designs redefining modern elegance and his brand becoming a global powerhouse.
He was known for overseeing every detail of his collections and business, earning him the title “Re Giorgio” or “King Giorgio”.
Armani’s designs were characterized by understated luxury, soft silhouettes, and a blend of masculine and feminine aesthetics.
Funeral arrangements have been made at Teatro Armani in Milan from September 6 to 7, open to the public from 9 am to 6 pm, followed by a private funeral.
