Harare – President Emmerson Mnangagwa on Wednesday officially opened the Varum Beverages $US20 million Cheetos snacks manufacturing plant in Harare.
”This significant milestone underscores Varun Beverages’ deepening investment in Zimbabwe’s manufacturing sector, marking a notable shift from importing these popular snacks to local production,” Mnangagwa said.
”Consequently, this facility will enhance domestic maize sourcing, empower Zimbabwean farmers, and generate employment opportunities.”
Varum Beverages started operating in Ardbennie in 2018 and ‘has expanded exponentially, supporting over 15,000 jobs nationwide,” Mnangagwa said.
Varum Beverages which produces soft drinks that include Pepsi is now operating many production lines that has a capacity to produce 120 million bottles per
month.
The company is set to produce juice and dairy products.
