Harare – President Emmerson Mnangagwa will officially open an education summit in Victoria Falls on Friday after he survived protests meant to oust him this week.
“His Excellency will officially open the 3rd African Education Summit for 2025 at Elephant Hills Hotel in Vic Falls, tomorrow, 4/4/25, at 1000hrs, ” the government information department said.
Mnangagwa who had slowed his public engagements after war veteran Blessed Geza called for mass protests on Monday to force the president to resign.
At least 95 people were arrested and Geza has since said he will push for Mnangagwa’s impeachment in parliament.
On Thursday Mnangagwa met with the leadership of the African National Congress (ANC) youth league leader Collen Malatji at State House.
“Our discussions also laid the foundation for the upcoming International Youth Summit on Land and Economic Freedom (IYSOLEF), to be held in Harare from 23–26 May 2025,” Mnangagwa said.
