Harare – Namibian President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah on Tuesday held a meeting with Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa in Harare were the two leaders pledged to improve bilateral relations.
Nandi-Ndaitwah arrived in Harare on Monday evening on a State visit, first one to Zimbabwe since she was elected president.
Mnangagwa and Nandi-Ndaitwah held a meeting at State House in Harare were the two leaders pledged to consolidate relations.
”Pleased to welcome President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah of Namibia to State House in Harare for her introductory working visit,” Mnangagwa said.
”We reaffirmed our commitment to strong bilateral and regional cooperation under the SADC framework.”
Nandi-Ndaitwah toured the national Heroes Acre and the Museum of African Liberation.
She was impressed with the construction of the Museum of African Liberation and pledged to assist in developing the ongoing project.
At the Museum, Nandi-Ndaitwah was briefed by Ambassador Kwame Muzavazi on the progress they have made to complete the project.
Nandi-Ndaitwah is accompanied by her husband, and retired Namibia army chief Lt. General Epaphras Denga Ndaitwah together with senior government officials.
She left Harare late Tuesday afternoon with her delegation.
Namibia and Zimbabwe have maintained strong relations since the days of the liberation struggle.
The late Robert Mugabe, Zimbabwe’s founding president and the late Namibia’s first president Sam Munjoma were close friends.
