Harare – Zimbabwe and China have signed cooperation agreements on economic and food security.
”Presided over the signing of two cooperation agreements with China—on technical and economic support, and food security. With over US$4B in investment and projects like Manhize Steel Works, our partnership continues to transform Zimbabwe’s future.
#Zimbabwe #China #Vision2030,” Zimbabwe President Emmerson Mnangagwa said.
The agreements were signed by Chinese ambassador to Zimbabwe Zhou Ding and Finance minister, Mthuli Ncube.
In the latest deal China will provide Zimbabwe with US$55 million in economic assistance and US$6.5 million food assistance.
Zimbabwe information department said China has invested US$4 billion in the southern African country in recent years.
In 2025, China has provided US$500 million in investments that include the Manhize iron and steel plant.
Chinese business people have invested in mining, agriculture and retail among many other economic sectors in Zimbabwe.
Thousands of Chinese nationals now reside in Zimbabwe.
