Harare – Zimbabwean politician and former deputy Finance Minister, David Chapfika has died in a road traffic accident when his car plunged into a river at a bridge near his farm.
He was 68.
Chapfika, is a former ZANU PF Member of Parliament for Mutoko South.
Apart from serving as deputy Finance Minister Chapfika also served as the chairperson of of the Finance and Economic Development Committee at parliament.
After the ouster of the late former president Robert Mugabe in a military coup in 2017, Chapfika maintained a low profile.
Rumours in 2021 spread that Chapfika was dead but it was established that he was alive and his brother McDonald had infact passed on.
In 2016, Chapfika divorced his wife of 32 years Abina Chapfika (nee Mutimusakwa).
He was reportedly in a relationship with a woman named as Sharon Kunyeda.
