Zhombe – The Zimbabwe National Students Union (ZINASU) this week paid a visit to the late vibrant student leader Learnmore Jongwe’s rural homestead to remember his life.
The ZINASU leaders met with Jongwe’s mother who was handed over groceries.
Jongwe died in prison in 2002 when he was facing charges of murdering his wife Rutendo Muusha.
Jongwe was a vibrant student leader who led students against government of the late former Zimbabwe president Robert Mugabe in the mid-1990s leading mass demonstrations.
He was elected a Member of Parliament under the Movement of Democratic Change (MDC) in 2000. The MDC was led by the late Morgan Tsvangirai.
”The national leadership of the Zimbabwe National Students Union (ZINASU) on Wednesday, 7th May 2025, gave a surprise visit to the mother of the late Learnmore Jongwe,” ZINASU said.
”The late Jongwe was the founding President of the revived ZINASU in March 1997.”

The ZINASU leadership were accompanied by Daniel Molokele, the Hwange Central MP, a former ZINASU leader and personal friend of the late Jongwe.
