Harare – Zimbabwe’s largest mobile telephone network, Econet on Thursday experienced a major technical fault which affected millions of customers in the southern African country, the company confirmed.
”Please note that some customers may be experiencing intermittent network challenges that could impact service availability,” Econet said in a statement.
”Our technical teams are working diligently to restore normal service as quickly as possible. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused, and we thank you for your patience and understanding.”
The technical fault started mid-afternoon on Thursday affecting calls, SMS and internet services on the Econet platform.
Econet is owned by Zimbabwean billionaire Strive Masiyiwa.
