Harare – A police officer who was arrested for making treasonous videos on social media has been acquitted by the magistrate court after he was adjudged to be suffering from mental health.
Assistant Inspector, Simbarashe Mandizvidza,35, was arrested last year after vanishing with a Ford Ranger police vehicle and making treasonous social media videos where he said he was now in-charge of ZRP.
He faced three charges of that are transmitting false information, fraudently using a police vehicle and causing disaffection among police and army officers.
Mandizvidza in his videos had declared that all Chinese Nationals who are exploiting Zimbabwe resources must leave the country within 48 hours.
He also said the police traffic section which is corrupt has been suspended.
The court ruled that Mandizvidza must be admitted at Chikurubi Maximum prison psychiatric hospital for medication and monitoring.
