Mutare – The Zimbabwe Passengers Transporters Organisation (ZPTO) Mutare chairman Jealous Mukorera (36) has appeared in court at the Mutare magistrate court yesterday facing two counts of assault.
One of the assault charge was that he assaulted Zanu PF Manicaland provincial executive member Clide Jani at Rekai Tangwena Government Complex.
He was jointly charged with Heyman Nyika (32).
Both men were arrested on February 17, 2026.
Mukorera is wearing a black T-Shirt inscribed ‘Thug Life’ in the main picture.
Presiding over the matter Mutare magistrate Honest Musiyiwa remanded the accused out of custody on bail, set at US$200 each to March 12 for routine remand.
The two were represented by prominent lawyer Farai Matinhure of Gonese and Ndlovu legal practitioners.
The pair were ordered to continue reside at given address, not to interfere with investigations and witnesses and report once after every fought night at CID law and order in Mutare.
It is the State case that on February 9 in the morning at the Government Complex ,Mutare, the accused persons together with their accomplice Donald Matakure who is still at large approached Jani who was about to board his vehicle and started assaulting him with a knuckle duster and fists on his face.
The complainant sustained cuts and a swollen eye.
A police report was made, leading to their arrest.
The other case allegedly involved Mukorera and Pension Gwinyai and others who are still at large.
It is said to have occurred on February 1 at around 5am at Bako Night Club which is owned by Given Shumba.
The accused persons allegedly caused mayhem , assaulting patrons who were drinking beer , using iron bars , chairs and a Columbia knife wooden log.
Mukorera is also denying the allegations was granted US$100.
