Harare – Harare magistrate, Donald Ndirowei on Monday denied journalist, Blessed Mhlanga bail.
Mhlanga is facing charges of inciting violence and transmitting data messages that incite violence.
“The application lacks merit and bail hereby denied,” Ndirowei ruled.
Mhlanga was remanded in custody to April 22.
The defence lawyers led by Chris Mhike had applied for bail saying they were changed circumstances in Mhlanga’s case.
They cited that the anticipated day of demonstrations had come and gone.
And that a similar case involving Owen Madondo who is known as DJ Ollah 7 was not brought to court by the prosecution.
The magistrate said the reasons given were not valid.
Mhlanga is accused of interviewing war veteran Blessed Geza who has been advocating for the resignation of President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
Geza who is in hiding called for mass protests on March 31 which resulted in a stay away.
