Harare – Controversial tenderprenuer and businessman, Wicknell Chivayo received R800 million from a South African company Renform CC that supplied voting materials for the 2023 Zimbabwe general elections.
The details emerged from an investigation by South Africa’s Financial Intelligence Centre which supplied the information to Zimbabwe’s Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU).
The South Africans discovered that the Zimbabwe Treasury department paid a total of R1.1 billion to Renform CC for supply of voting materials.
The shocking details reveal that Chivayo through his company received R800 million which is about US$45 million, sparks of corruption and underhand dealings.
Chivayo who is closely associated with President Emmerson Mnangagwa has won various government tenders from different departments.
Chivayo has been splashing cash and donating luxurious cars to dozens of people valued at millions of dollars.
