Harare – President Emmerson Mnangagwa has nominated businessman Kuda Tagwirei into the Senate paving way for the newly elected ZANU PF Central Committee member to rise within the echelons of power.
Tagwirei who was controversially appointed into the powerful Central Committee with some resistance is now set to be a central figure in the succession matrix within the ruling ZANU PF.
Reports have named Tagwirei as one of the people who may succeed Mnangagwa when his tenure ends in 2030 if plans within the powerful faction in the ruling party goes unchallenged.
Tagwirei has been tipped to be appointed deputy president of Zimbabwe and ZANU PF by Mnangagwa.
Tagwirei, is a billionaire who made his wealth through government tenders such as command agriculture has denied plans to replace Mnangagwa.
Before his appointment into the Central Committee, Tagwirei played politics discreetly while he amassed his vast wealth.
Nicknamed Queen Bee, Tagwirei has made a lot of money and has been accused by his critics of using money to pave way for his ambitions to one day be the president of Zimbabwe.
He has denied any ambitions to replace Mnangagwa but his close associates have confirmed that he has such ambitions.
Mnangagwa is now a free to do as he pleases after the constitutional amendment act was passed into law recently to extend his rule to 2030.
Mnangagwa also nominated into the SenateZANU PF Bulawayo province chairperson and war veterans leader Jabulani Sibanda, relative Mary Mliswa, Nokuthula Matsikenyere, Godwills Masimirembwa, Lucy Chitaga, retired Major-General Gibson Mashingaidze, Makhosini Hlongwane, Brilliant Dube and Irene Mutumba.
