Harare – Controversial church leader Walter Magaya and his wife Tendai who head the Prophetic Healing and Deliverance church faces civil imprisonment after failing to repay a US$420 000 loan from microfinance GetBucks.
The controversial clergy has been denying auctioneers to access his property at number 166 Smuts Road in Watersfalls were a hotel, stadium and some houses are set to be auctioned for failing to repay loans.
Apart from GetBucks, Walter Magaya is owing a Chinese named as Lin Xiu Yun a huge amount of money that is yet to be disclosed.
In a notice auctioneers listed the auction notice titled “Sale Number SH3294/ Li Xiu Yun vs Prophetic Healing and Deliverance Ministries
166 Smuts Road Prospect Waterfalls
Access denied, hotel, houses and a stadium.
The GetBucks notice read: “SH3298/25 Get Bucks Microfinance Bank Limited vs Planet Africa Private Limited, Walter Magaya, Tendai Magaya and Deliverance Ministries
3,2323 hectares.”
Walter Magaya is not new to controversy as he has been accused of being a womaniser.
He was slapped with a nearly US$2 million lawsuit by a Harare couple, Upenyu and Blessing Mashangwa who allegedly said they seeded expensive cash and cars at Magaya’s church with a promise to that they will one day own an airline.
Seeding cash and cars means giving the money and cars to Magaya for his personal use although the churchgoers say the proceeds go to the church.
Critics have said it is daylight robbery by church leaders to lie to congregants that by seeding hard earned cash and property they will be rewarded.
Recently Walter Magaya and his wife were gifted cars and cash from Wicknell Chivayo, another controversial businessman who has been splashing cash and cars to pastors and other people like confetti at a wedding.
Walter Magaya got a 2025 Mercedes Benz GLS600 Maybach worth $US450 000 and $US100 000 cash.
His wife Tendai was gifted with 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser 300 series VXR and $US50 000 cash.
