Harare – Zimbabwe’s ambassador to Mozambique and Eswatini, Victor Matemadanda has died, the government said.
He was 66.
Matemadanda died in Harare at West End hospital.
”The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade mourns the passing on of our Ambassador to the Republic of Mozambique and the Kingdom of Eswatini, Dr. Victor Matemadanda, early this morning. The Ministry extends its heartfelt condolences to the President, His Excellency Dr. E.D. Mnangagwa, the Matemadanda family and the nation of Zimbabwe,” the Foreign Affairs ministry said.
Matemadanda was a war veterans of Zimbabwe’s liberation struggle of the 1970s.
He was a member of the Zimbabwe war veterans association.
Matemadanda rose to fame during the end of Robert Mugabe’s 37 year rule.
The former ex-combatant was very vocal calling for the removal of Mugabe. Together with his other war veterans, Matemadanda worked with army to remove Mugabe in the November 2017 coup.
