Masvingo – Businessman Kuda Tagwirei and Land Tenure Implementation Committee chairperson has called for Zimbabweans to embrace obtaining title deeds for land acquired through the land reforms to unlock access to loans to create wealth.
Tagwirei spoke in Masvingo at Masvingo Polytechnic College addressing hundreds of students from various institutions in the province on the benefits of obtaining title deeds on land.
He said President Emmerson Mnangagwa ‘s vision is to see land owners turning into commercial farmers where they create wealth for themselves which will grow the economy.
”When the President is giving us title deeds he is giving us access to wealth,” Tagwirei said.
”When you have wealth you have an army. If you are able to fight and protect yourself. The president wants to give us the army.The word wealth means power, we have the power and the army.”
”If you have the wealth you can decide on your what you want. The President wants us to have dignity, he wants us to have respect we deserve when we create wealth for ourselves.”
Tagwirei said Zimbabweans must work hard for themselves to create wealth that will last for many generations to come.
”Good wealth is the one which you work for yourself. As Zimbabweans we must work for ourselves,” he said.
Tagwirei said getting title on land enhances agriculture productivity, empowers black people who were previously marginalized, reduces imports and is a step towards creating industry anchored productive land use.
Tagwirei urged young people to register their names with the Ministry of Lands to allow them to get land for their projects.
”There were multiple farm owners who got land land reform owners. The law does not allow multiple farm owners. Go and register to be on the register for land allocation,” he said.
”If you work for someone you are creating wealth for someone else.I want to encourage you my brothers and sisters nyika inovakwa nevene vayo.”
He urged people to work hard on their land.
”The president has given us title deeds. Our duty is now to farm and tell our parents to take land tenure title deeds,” he said.
The Land Tenure Implementation Committee has many key areas it will address that include title deeds, land registration, strategies to successful implementation, and low interest loans among others.
The event in Masvingo was organized by Young Women for Economic Development (YW4ED) an affiliate organisation of the ruling ZANU PF.
Other speakers at the event included Ezra Chadzamira, the Minister of State for Masvingo province, Tendai Mavetera, the ICT minister and Yeukai Simbanegavi, the deputy minister Energy.
