Bulawayo, Zimbabwe – The Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) has been condemned by Bulawayo Mayor, David Coltart for the organisation’s failure to have a Decision Review System (DSR) when it is spending millions on other lesser important projects.
”Why is it that @ZimCricketv still does not have DRS?
It is spending seemingly millions in building a new Stadium in Victoria Falls (a small tourist town with a tiny cricket follower population) and yet cannot budget for what is now a basic necessity for international cricket – DRS,” Coltart posted on his X account.
In cricket, DRS stands for Decision Review System. It’s a technology-based system that allows players to challenge on-field umpires’ decisions, primarily focusing on LBW (leg before wicket) and caught-behind dismissals.
”In the last test Ervine was given out LBW in an outrageously bad decision. Now Masekesa is denied a wicket – seemingly according to @cricinfo an equally poor decision.
In addition Queens is terribly run down and there is no apparent basic maintenance, let alone upgrades, taking place,” Coltart said
”It is time Zimbabwe Cricket got its priorities right.”
The Zimbabwe Cricket instead of responding to Coltart’s concern released a statement attacking the politician calling him a racist.
